What is Bengal Choir? The Bengal Choir offers an accelerated choir experience for students who enjoy singing in an ensemble. Students will have the opportunity to grow as both vocalist and learners as they are challenged with more rigorous choral literature and held to a higher performance standard. The singers will also continue to develop skills in proper vocal technique, sight singing and singing in harmony. Bengal Choir is not an “honor choir” per say, it is more of an extra opportunity for students who love to sing.

 

What does Bengal Choir do? Besides having fun rehearsals and singing exciting music, the choir will have several performance opportunities to perform for both their peers and families. The choir will have a winter (12/8) and spring (4/20) concert and will also perform at the Veteran’s day assembly (11/11). The choir will also have an opportunity to sing at nursing home for community service and at a Missouri mavericks game (1/6)

 

How does my child(ren) join? As stated earlier the Bengal choir is not an honor choir, however it is a privilege not a right. All students who wish to join the choir may audition September 14-16th after school or, by appointment if there is a time conflict. As a music educator it is my philosophy to never turn away a willing student no matter what their capabilities are. The auditions are merely an opportunity to hear each student’s voice and evaluate where they are developmentally. I accept almost every student who auditions, students will only be turned away from the ensemble if their behavior is deemed unproductive for the group. The vocal auditions for Bengal choir are September 14-16th however, behavior auditions start the first day of school!   

 

Details:  The group will meet every Tuesday morning at 7:30am starting September 20th. Each student is allowed 2 unexcused absences from rehearsal, the 3rd unexcused absences will result in a loss of the privilege. There will be two additional rehearsals on Thursday December 1st and Wednesday April 19th, in preparation for the upcoming concerts.
